Kenny Mabunda, our Soul Food Sedibeng Manager, recently captured a moment that speaks to the reality faced by many children in our communities.

From a distance, Kenny noticed a young boy named Siyabonga running towards the feeding point to receive a meal. As he took the photograph, he was deeply moved by what he saw — not just a child running for food, but a silent cry for dignity, care, and hope.

Kenny tried to engage with Siyabonga, but the young boy could not say much. Yet, in his silence, there was a powerful message.

His eyes spoke of hunger, hardship, and the difficult realities many children silently endure every single day. In that moment, it became clear that a simple meal is more than food — it is comfort, dignity, and reassurance that someone cares.

No child should have to run towards a plate of food as though it may be their only chance to eat.

At Soul Food, moments like these remind us why the fight against hunger and child malnutrition matters so deeply. Behind every meal distributed is a story, a family, and a child whose future depends on communities choosing compassion and action.

We salute Kenny and our teams across the country who continue restoring hope in communities every day.

Together, we can ensure that children like Siyabonga are not defined by hunger, but by hope, opportunity, and a brighter tomorrow.
