Soul Food is proud to announce a new partnership with ISUZU Motors South Africa, marking an exciting step forward in our collective commitment to combating child malnutrition and stunting in vulnerable communities across South Africa.

As part of this partnership, ISUZU has provided a vehicle to support the implementation of NutriTrack, Soul Food’s child nutrition monitoring and intervention initiative. The vehicle will play a critical role in enabling field operations, beneficiary engagement, nutritional screening activities, stakeholder collaboration, and community outreach as the project begins its rollout across participating Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres and communities.

The official handover took place at ISUZU’s Struandale manufacturing facility in Gqeberha, where representatives from both organisations had the opportunity to engage around the vision, objectives, and long-term potential of the partnership.

Representing ISUZU was Mrs Lumka Nyamela, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator, whose passion for community impact and collaborative development was evident throughout the engagement. Discussions centred not only on the immediate support being provided, but also on the broader opportunities that emerge when organisations work together to address some of South Africa’s most pressing social challenges.

A Partnership with Purpose

The NutriTrack initiative was developed to strengthen Soul Food’s response to child malnutrition by introducing a structured nutrition monitoring and intervention system that goes beyond food distribution alone.

While Soul Food continues to provide nutritional support to thousands of vulnerable children, NutriTrack seeks to measure and understand nutritional outcomes through:

  • Child nutritional screening
  • Growth monitoring
  • Early identification of nutritional risk
  • Caregiver engagement
  • Referral management
  • Real-time programme monitoring
  • Data-driven interventions

The support provided by ISUZU will significantly enhance our ability to reach communities, support fieldworkers, engage stakeholders, and ensure effective implementation of this important programme.

The Power of Partnership

Addressing child malnutrition requires more than the efforts of a single organisation. It requires collaboration between the private sector, civil society, government, academic institutions, and community stakeholders.

Partnerships such as this demonstrate what is possible when organisations align their resources, expertise, and shared commitment toward creating sustainable social impact.

The vehicle handover represents more than mobility; it represents trust, shared responsibility, and a belief that together we can create meaningful change in the lives of children.

Looking Ahead

The NutriTrack project is currently progressing through its implementation phase, with fieldworker recruitment underway, screening equipment being procured, participating centres identified, and stakeholder engagements continuing across various provinces.

As the project moves into baseline assessments and community rollout, the support from ISUZU will help ensure that teams are able to reach the communities where the need is greatest.

Soul Food extends its sincere gratitude to ISUZU Motors South Africa, Mrs Lumka Nyamela, and the broader ISUZU team for their confidence in our work and their willingness to invest in solutions that place children at the centre of development.

We look forward to building a long and impactful partnership together.

Together, we are not simply delivering support — we are driving hope, opportunity, and measurable impact for the next generation.
