Eric Mtyobo semi-retired from the Soul Food project at the end of 2022. He had brilliantly served as our Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) manager since 1 June 2016. In those six and half years he founded the branch and brought food to hundreds of thousands of hungry children all over the Eastern Cape. He was loved and respected wherever he went.
Taking things a little easier, but not completely retired, he now serves as Soul Food’s Training Manager. Whenever a new branch manager is appointed his or her first task is a visit to Tata Eric where he spends a full week passing on his wisdom, ethos and experience to the young manager. Only when Eric is satisfied that the new manager knows “how we do things around here” does the manager move on to all the other branches to see what works and what doesn’t in the different parts of our beautiful country.
We salute you Eric, our Elder Statesman!
