Managing Trustee: The Soul Provider Trust, City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
SOUL FOOD is currently establishing a second Emergency Response Depot (ERD). The first is in our Distribution Centre in Spartan Johannesburg and this one is in Bitou, Western Cape. Today the first stock of 500 POWA Packs arrived and were offloaded and packed into the store. Members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) have kindly offered to manage the store.
The idea is to always have at least 1000 POWA Packs available for any kind of emergency or disaster that requires food within a radius of 500km of Plettenberg Bay. This would roughly cover the area between Cape Town and East London and as far north as Colesburg.
The 1000 POWA packs will be replenished and refreshed with 300 new packs each month. This means, unless there is a disaster or emergency, that 300 packs a month would become available for distribution to schools in the Bitou area. SSVP would be tasked with distributing these 300 POWA Packs (7500 meals) on behalf of SOUL FOOD.
