In the heart-wrenching incident that unfolded at the informal settlement of Fleurhof in Roodepoort, a devastating fire ravaged through 46 shacks, rendering 33 people homeless and impacting 57 individuals. Tragically, this fire claimed the lives of 3 children and left 1 adult injured.
In the face of such adversity, the affected residents found temporary shelter at the Fleurhof recreation center. Providing a glimmer of hope in these dark times, David Sehlapelo, Tshwane’s dedicated Soul Food Manager, swiftly responded with much-needed relief.
David’s compassionate outreach took the form of blankets, POWA PACKs, and essential groceries such as maize meal, pilchards, and rice. These vital supplies aim to provide immediate comfort and support to those who have lost so much.
As we stand in solidarity with the Fleurhof community during this trying period, we are reminded that even in the midst of tragedy, kindness and generosity have the power to bring comfort and renewal. Soul Food remains committed to making a positive difference, one act of compassion at a time.
