Soul Food’s Emergency Response Centre in Plettenberg Bay has been set up to respond quickly to any major emergency in the area between Cape Town, Colesburg and East London. It contain food, blankets and other essential items.
The food is refreshed every two weeks and the stock being replaced is donated to schools and ECD centres in the Bitou Municipality. The food, mainly POWA Packs, is still perfectly fit for human consumption but the idea is to keep replacing it so that it is never compromised.
The storage and distribution of this food is managed for Soul Food by the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) at St Christopher’s Catholic Church in Plettenberg Bay. This afternoon, SSVP Chairman Ben Patterson and his team visited the kids at Siyakula Creche and Lumen Christi to donate the POWA Packs and some most welcome beanies!
